A vision board is a simple visual representation showing your aspirations and goals. You can choose to have one or several vision boards.

Vision boards also include gorgeous pictures of people, places, jobs, or anything that inspires you. I’ll show you how to get images for your vision board later in the article.

A vision board might also include your dream job, travel bucket list, dream homes, etc.

What do you put on a vision board?

We said you could put pictures of people or places you love on a vision board – anything that inspires you.

You can organize it into many different categories, and you can have one or as many as you want for inspiration.

You could begin with professional and career goal vision boards, personal goal vision board, health vision board, and a dream life vision board,

How do you make a 2020 vision board?

Imagine a home you’d love to live in, places you’d like to visit, relationships you’d love to have, and even the career you’d love to have.

I’ll help you bring that on paper called a vision board.

What do you need to make a vision board?

Since a vision board is a visual representation of your goals, it will mostly be beautiful pictures and images meaningful to you.

Here’s what you need for your vision board.

  • Corkboard
  • Poster Board (or larger)
  • Glue or pushpins ( if you use corkboard)
  • Photographs
  • Recent magazines for your images
  • Journal or notebook

Using a poster board or cork board is the easiest way to create a vision board. With a poster board, you can glue your images to the board. Using a cork board, enables you to quickly move pictures around or remove them later.

But maybe you are still wondering…

Where can I get pictures for my vision board?

Magazines are the easiest places to find pictures for your vision board. Try to find recent magazines and go through them looking for inspiring images for your vision board.

Anytime you find a fantastic image that fits your aspirations, cut it out and place it on your vision board. If you don’t have enough magazines, ask friends and family members if they can give you some you can use.

Personal photos are also another alternative. Find pictures of places you’d like to visit or people who inspire you

Take time to gather supplies and images you need. Take time to choose pictures for your vision board – they should be inspiring images.

The internet is also another convenient place to find images for your vision board.

If you can’t find images for every dream you have in the beginning, don’t despair. Creating a vision board is a continuous exercise; you can always find them later and add them to your vision board.

Always be on the alert for images that inspire you. Keep in mind, the best photos for your vision board are those close to what you imagine and realistic.

For example, your vision might be to live in a $10M mansion with 10 rooms, a pool, staff to take care of everything, an indoor spa, etc. But if you don’t have the income to support this dream, it might be out of reach. Maybe bring your vision to something you can manage to achieve with a little more effort.

It could be a move to a better house, say from a two-bedroom to a three-bedroom house with a garden, or even purchase a home with 5 acres of land.

Vision boards are meant to inspire you to be your best self, but they should also be realistic. Unrealistic vision boards can only frustrate you.

Vision board categories

Do you want one big vision board or separate small vision boards for each category?

Some vision board categories include

  • Finance/money
  • Job/Career goals
  • Health
  • Vacations/travel
  • Relationships
  • Mom life

These are just a few suggestions. You can always create a vision board for any area of your life you want to improve, change, or aspire to reach.

Alternatively, create one vision board with different sections for each category or various boards for each section.

Create your vision board

Now you have all the information you need to create a vision board.

But before you begin to glue everything together, lay out your images on the board. Then move the images around trying out different designs. Keep moving the photos until it looks beautiful to you.

After you set your pictures the way you want, you can also add quotes and stickers to your vision board. After you have placed everything on the board, take a step back, and look at it for a few minutes.

Do you need to move or change something? Make adjustments you think you need.

You can also buy time (if you don’t have pets or kids who’ll mess up your work), leave everything for a day, and then come back to it later. Do you still love it? If you do, then go ahead and glue everything in place.

Wait for everything to dry and hang your vision board on a wall to see it and get inspired every day.

Caution: Having a vision board doesn’t mean all these things will come to reality. You still have to wake up from your dream, go out there, and pursue your dreams. A vision board helps you to visualize your dream life and motivate you to take the necessary steps to take action and make it happen.
